Portland hikes + Body = Home sneak peak
Hey hey there UH fam,
Just a few quick notes!
Portland-metro area Unlikely Hikers, we still have some space left for participants in our REI-sponsored #OptOutside events this weekend. #OptOutside is all about encouraging people to get outside and connect with the land and each other. We’ll have some intentional time on our hike to collaborate on what that means. Afterward, we’ll raffle off prizes for ALL of our participants and have snacks together!
12/9 – Portland, OR – #OptOutside: Lower Intensity (3 spots left!)
12/10 – Portland, OR –#OptOutside: Higher Intensity (many spots left!)
12/30 – Portland, OR – registration opens 12/12
Don’t let the “Higher Intensity” label throw you too much. At 4.7 miles and 500 feet gain, it’s simply a little longer and with a little higher elevation gain than what we normally offer. We’ve also implemented a time parameter of 30-40 minutes per mile— which is generally how we move anyway! This is simply to minimize exposure time because the weather is not great this weekend. We will still move slowly and take all of the breaks we need. We understand that time does not equal ability, but it does affect exposure and resources.
Other news:
Yesterday, I (Jenny Bruso, obv) returned from our Body = Home Southern Hiking Tour sponsored by our longtime partners at Eddie Bauer. We led hikes in Atlanta, Nashville and 2 hikes in Durham! We sowed some serious magic on those trails and I am stoked to confidently say we have folks interested in starting new chapters! Stay tuned for details. We’re in the middle of big time planning for 2024 and there will be more Unlikely Hikers opportunities than ever in the U.S. and hopefully beyond! A little Canadian tour might be being discussed…
